Useful building blocks from natural rubber

A portfolio of oligomers obtained from natural rubber or waste tyres has been obtained so far in the team. Molecular mass is easily tuned and chain end functionalization allows the generation of different building blocks that have been used in the synthesis of new biobased materials, such as polyurethane films and foams, non-isocyanate polyurethane, cross-linked thin and thick films. A number of properties can be inferred to these materials varying the formulation, such as being flame retardant, antibacterial, antifouling, biodegradable, so they can be used in a great number of applications.
